Arab Bank Organizes Blood Drive with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation
31 May, 2010
As part of Arab Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program, Together, and in cooperation with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF), a blood donation drive was organized for the Bank’s employees at its Central Operations Unit on the airport road in Amman recently. There were a large number of participants, with over 50 employees donating their blood to benefit patients at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC).
“The availability of blood in case of emergencies is scarce, and it is something that many of us may not think of as an important need,” said Ms. Dina Shoman, Executive Vice President of Branding at Arab Bank. “There are many cancer patients in the Kingdom who are in need of blood; and through donations and drives like this, lives can be saved.” Ms. Shoman further added, “It was remarkable to witness the employee’s enthusiasm and their willingness to support the Foundation’s (KHCF) efforts to fight cancer.”
Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired, Director General of KHCF thanked Arab Bank for their continuous support of the Foundation and its cause. She also thanked all employees at the Bank for donating their blood to benefit cancer patients at KHCC. HRH added that Arab Bank, by organizing this day, sets a great example in corporate social responsibility that should be followed by all other corporations in Jordan.
Arab Bank has conducted many blood donation campaigns in the past. Activities such as the blood drive are part of Arab Bank’s ongoing Together program that aims to promote the Bank’s employees’ citizenship and social responsibility.
Together is a multi-dimensional program which, besides involving employees, also aims to engage the customers in being active members of the community. Together is involved with various non-profit organizations that cover different aspects of our community through various initiatives. Ms. Shoman concluded, “Our customers can support the King Hussein Cancer Foundation by donating through our channels, such as Hala Arabi, Arabi Online, directly through branches or through the Together Platinum Visa credit card.”
The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to combating cancer. Its medical arm, the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), is an internationally accredited cancer treatment center, which offers comprehensive cancer care to patients of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities, through all stages of cancer (from prevention, through treatment, to palliative care). The fight against cancer is one that requires the support and participation of the entire community. Donations help to provide state-of-the-art cancer care at KHCC, educate the public about early detection and prevention of cancer, supply access to research and support underprivileged cancer patients financially and psychologically.
