The Arab Bank officially launched its newly developed program, ‘Together for the Better’, which is a large, scale corporate and social responsibility program aimed at different aspects of the community. Through collaboration with different non-profit organizations, whose efforts range from education to the environment, Arab Bank’s movement aims to promote collaboration, volunteerism and citizenship.
The signing ceremony was attended by: H.R.H. Princess Dina Mired, representing the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, Ms. Maha Al Saqqa representing Al Aman Fund, Mr. Yehya Khaled representing Royal Society for Conservation of Nature, Ms. Danah Dajani representing Madrasati, Mr. Mahmoud Al Sharif representing Tkiyet Um Ali and Ms. Dina Shoman representing the Arab Bank. The signing of the agreements will enable customers to contribute through the various banking channels to the fields of education, orphans, poverty, health and the environment, or to all of them at once through the usage of the Together Platinum Card.
The channels, which include the branches, ATM’s, online and telephone banking, will be open for donations by the end of 2009. The Together card will also be available soon. Customers will be able to donate money at branches, ATMs, standing orders and through Arabi Online to any of the program’s five main participants and Arab Bank employees will have the opportunity to volunteer at these organizations amongst others. There will be no transfer fees when using any of the channels to donate money, and the donations will be directly transferred to the accounts of the organizations.
The program is catered to both the Arab Bank’s customers and to its employees. Besides monetary contributions, the Arab Bank is encouraging volunteerism amongst its employees and customers. Chairman and CEO, Abdel Hamid Shoman says, “In tough economic times, CSR initiatives and non profit organizations need support from people the most right now. We have an obligation to the community we live in, during good times and bad. We want to inspire everyone to volunteer and participate in their community. In keeping with one of the core values of the Bank, citizenship, we are active corporate citizens, fostering the growth and advancement of our communities.”
Arab Bank’s Together program has been launched recently and employees have volunteered in several activities such as the Amman International Marathon, where 700 employees, friends and family participated. Also, Arab Bank employees packaged food that was distributed to hungry families. Currently employees are volunteering their time to educate children at different schools in the country. This ceremony marks the beginning of a fully fledged sustainable corporate social responsibility program. The mission of Together is: To continuously support, participate in and contribute to the advancement and well-being of our community.
