01 Nov, 2010

As part of its corporate social responsibility program “Together”, Arab Bank donated a state-of-the-art ambulance to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) on October 26, 2010 to be utilized by the King Hussein Cancer Center, which is the foundation’s medical arm. The ambulance is equipped with the latest technology that is designed to meet the needs of cancer patients in Jordan.

According to Ms. Dina Shoman, Executive Vice President of Branding at Arab Bank, “The King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center offer invaluable services to patients from Jordan and the region; we whole-heartedly believe in their cause and we are hoping this token of our appreciation will help them further their endeavors.”

“The King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center appreciate the Arab Bank’s donation of an ambulance which will provide great assistance to us in our care of critically-ill patients. We are also proud to be part of the Together Program which builds a sense of community and encourages social responsibility,” HRH Princess Dina Mired, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation said.

Commenting on the program, Ms. Shoman said, “This well-rounded approach to CSR was constructed for the benefit of non-profit organizations participating in Together. It is not only about contributions from the Bank’s side, but our customers can help as well, by donating to the Foundation through our banking channels and through the Together credit card. The card’s unique structure adds a small percentage (0.5%) of the customer’s monthly purchases to the customer’s bill and is matched by Arab Bank, and is donated automatically at the end of the month equally to the program’s five organizations.” She further explained, “We have brought these organizations together to inspire people to contribute to the community.”

Together is based on cooperation with five main non-profit organizations covering different areas ranging from healthcare, nature conservation, orphaned youth, education, and fighting poverty. Arab Bank’s movement aims to promote collaboration, volunteerism and citizenship.
