Arab Bank is sponsoring the Amman International Marathon that will be held on October 17, 2009 as part of its newly launched Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) program ‘Together’. Under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein, the Marathon aims to support youth, sports and non-profit organizations.
The private sector plays a vital role in supporting the Marathon as many organizations and companies are involved in this event. According to Mr. Abdel Hamid Shoman, Chairman and CEO, “Arab Bank has always supported activities that aim to promote economic and social growth. This event delivers on both fronts as well as support charitable initiatives.” Mr. Shoman added, “Arab Bank puts social responsibility at the top of our priorities as we continue to serve the community and contribute to its development. By participating in such an event we increase our community involvement as well as stay true to our history of supporting such initiatives.”
Ms. Dina Shoman, Executive Vice President of Branding, said, “Arab Bank is excited to support and be a part of this event as it runs in parallel with our corporate social responsibility program, Together, which is based around community involvement. An event like this is important because it brings everyone together for a common goal. The Marathon involves its participants in supporting their community.”
The race begins at the steps of the Greater Amman Municipality, with the finishing line at the old Gladiator Park next to the Roman Amphitheatre in downtown Amman. Runners are expected to participate not only from Jordan, but also other countries, all competing for the world record.
Through its program Together, Arab Bank aims to promote collaboration, volunteerism and citizenship. Together’s mission is to continuously support, participate in and contribute to the advancement and well-being of our community. Through cooperation with different non-profit organizations which cover areas ranging from education to the environment, the Together program is a structured and sustainable approach to CSR.
