The Card that Gives Back
The credit card, if anything deserves the line ‘don’t leave home without it’, it’s this little piece of plastic. As you walk into a mall and the crisp air-conditioned, new-clothes-scented breeze caresses your faces, you can’t help but think: ‘I am going to treat myself to something nice today’.
Common enough scenario: You buy a new dress (or mp3 player or new shoes), a little expensive, but well worth it, you swipe your card, and presto, that nice warm feeling sets in that you just bought something pretty sweet and can’t wait to show-it-off to your friends. Sure, it may sound selfish, but you have worked hard all month and deserve this token of self-appreciation.
The credit card boils down to (please don’t attempt to cook your card) a means of exchanging payment, correct? Not anymore, Arab Bank has introduced a new credit card, Together Visa Platinum that not only can be used for goods and services but it also contributes to the community. So now when you buy that MP3 player or new pair of shoes, a small percentage (0.5%) from your monthly purchases will be added to the bill and is matched by Arab Bank, and then donated automatically at the end of the month equally to Together’s five organizations.
The card allows you to make donating small amounts part of your daily life. It is targeted towards those who want to make a difference, in a more convenient and everyday way. In the same way the shopper usually drops the extra change received back from the store’s cashier in to the charity donation box at the counter; this card takes a small fraction of each card transaction amount and drops it, conveniently, into the organizations’ accounts.
Small amounts accumulated over time can make a big difference to the different causes that are all of equal importance, such as the environment, underprivileged students, orphans, the poor, and the needy patients who are supported by these reputed organizations. And the best part is that you can contribute and make a difference every day.
